Levittown business reviews, phone numbers, addresses, maps & driving directions of Levittown, New York businesses
Levittown, New York businesses. Levittown is a hamlet in Nassau County. After World War II, William J. Levitt along with his sons, Alfred and William built 4 master planned communities in which they names Levittown. Prior to this, the area was mainly potato farms known as Island Trees. After the war in 1945, the farmers began selling their land that had been affected by the war. The Levitt’s divided the potato filed into lots and built homes for veterans and their families. The area became a wonderful place with a variety of homes for families. The Island Trees Union Free School is for students in the Eastern section of the community while Levittown Union Free School District serves the remainder of the community. The hamlet is known for its quality education opportunities, low crime, restaurants, parks & Beaches, and shops. The small ranches originally were purchased for less than $8,000; today you will find more high end homes with modern amenities. The close proximity to the turnpike is one reason real estate in Levittown is sought after by those that want to live in a quiet community but be close to the big city.
The most popular attraction is the Levittown Historical Museum which provides all kinds of historical artifacts including photographs, recollections, and personal belongings of veterans of World War II.
